Provincial Glazing Association of Alberta (PGAA) Booth at the 2023 Skills Canada-Alberta Try-A-Trade Event

On 2023-05-03 and 04, Skills Canada held their Alberta Provincial Skills Competition at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Aside from the Skills Competition, the event also featured education, entertainment, displays, and the ability for students to give numerous trades, including glazing, a try, in the Try-A-Trade booths.

The PGAA, as represented by the Glass Trades Association (GTA) and the Glass and Architectural Metals Association (GAMA) had our try-a-trade booth and had 308 students give glazing a try. We gave away a 50” television to Alyssa Montreil, a Grade 11 student at Sturgeon Composite High School in Namao, Alberta.

Some photos of our booth are as follows:

The event was extremely well attended on Day 1 with 350 plus students through our booth. Day 2 was quieter with 150 plus students attending the PGAA glazing booth.

Thanks to all of our many volunteers and Lynn Allan of Alcon Glass for organizing this event. More photos and event details can be found online at Skills Canada Alberta – Excellence in trade & technology careers through skills competitions and hands-on programs (skillsalberta.com).
